Williams Avenue Elementary School with an application to search through the library’s book inventory

Williams Avenue Elementary School came up with an innovative way to encourage their students to search through the library even if they are not at school.

Destiny Quest application allows students to search the book inventory from home or at school on a smartphone.

The program was launched last week.

More often students use social media and the library is hoping to keep up with technology.

The most important thing about the new application is that now students can access the library at any time.

Students can do even more than just search the library’s inventory – they can rate books, write reviews and can place a book on hold and the librarian will hold it for three days.

Destiny Quest has two other options – Webpath and Onesearch.

Onesearch includes pages such as National Geographic with relative information to the topic that the student is searching.

Webpath is similar to a search engine – it pulls up pages that are grade appropriate and accredited

QR codes are placed all over the school and many students and parents are scanning it during the introduction of the program.
