India’s top mobile app, WeChat, has announced a new application that will allow users to share digital ID via QR Codes.
By scanning the QR Code the user’s ID, previously created online, it can be shared much easier, faster and convenient than exchanging names, phone numbers or email addresses.
A simple scan will provide all the necessary information that the user wants to share.
The app is available for Windows Phone, Android and iOS.
To promote the QR Codes among Indians, WeChat has started a contest to encourage users to post the QR Codes on their Facebook profiles and so spread the word with their friends.
The users that scanned the most QR Codes are entered into a contest to win Google Nexus7, an iPad, iPhone 5 and gift vouchers.
So far over 10,000 users have added their unique QR Code to their Facebook profiles and even on their profile picture.
