Scottish Rail deploys free WiFi to its trains

POSTED BY on Dec 17 under Mobile & Web News

People living in Scotland might find interesting to know that the Scottish Railways have announced that are planing to deploy free WiFi on all 59 of the class 170 ScotRail trains, operating on most of the cities in Scotland.

Few months ago, 4 trains class 170 have been fitted with WiFi already, as a trial project, but the the passengers have welcomed the concept which can explain the roll out in all trains.

The Scottish Rail is planning to roll out the free WiFi in March next year when 5 out of 6 trains will have the service deployed every month and the free WiFi will be installed during planned weekend maintenance and so avoiding delays, especially in rush hours.

The idea is pretty good, especially for commuters who are frustrated when cellphones do not have coverage underground.
