Qualcomm and Burger King with a QR Code campaign

POSTED BY on Jun 14 under QR Codes

Burger King and Qualcomm launched a pilot campaign that will enable the customers to pay in the food chain by scanning a QR Code with their Android devices and iPhones.

Qualcomm’s Firethorn Mobile is rolling out a Mobile Crown Card across Burger King’s 50 locations in Salt Lake City.

The restaurants will place QR coded tags on their counters and windows, so customers can download the free Mobile Crown Card app from Google Play and Apple’s App Store and scan the code to direct their purchases to a debit or credit card account that is linked to the application.

The new system works with any iOS and Android device and doesn’t require hardware investments to deliver the solution to the customers.

Burger King is running over 12,000 restaurants in more than 80 countries and has 11 million customers daily.

90% of the restaurants are operated and owned by independent franchisees.

Mobile payment solutions like Burger King’s Crown Card can eliminate the need for customers to carry credit cards or cash by the end of 2020, according to latest report by the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project.

65% of the experts believe that in the next 8 years, most customers will embrace smartphone devices and will fully trust the mobile wallet technology.
