QR Code totem in Edinburgh

POSTED BY on Dec 10 under QR Codes

An interactive arts project of £80,000 is giving technology an angle to sharing moments.

Wester Hailes is creating a totem pole that is using QR Codes to connect with people and to offer more depth to the memories that the totem is representing.

The project is receiving funds from the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

The totem will be almost 15 ft tall and the work will be a collective effort by local academics and groups.

By using a QR Code series and a network of trails, the totem will provide information about the surrounding area and the social history.

The project is an expansion on the existing effort in the region, as there are already a number of pictures, information, maps and memories along the walks assembled by the locals.

The Edinburgh College of Arts and Dr Chris Speed are involved in the task to continue to share the memories of the community.
