For the first time, the service was revealed at the 2012 In-Cosmetics event in Barcelona, the largest trade event in the beauty industry for the world’s best producers, marketers, suppliers and developers.

Floratech, a supplier of botanically extracted ingredients, announced a technology that allows the smartphone owners to scan QR codes on products and so to see the list of the ingredients and understand the processes made to the specific item.

The system is easy to use, the customers scan the QR code and the app directs them to an app that shows the product’s description, International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients names, efficiency claims, certificates of analysis, technical data sheets and Material Safety Data Sheets.

Due to space restrictions on some products, the QR codes are an excellent solution for Floratech to provide a wealth of information, accessible 24/7 that otherwise would not be possible.

In order to use the system, there is no user information required, no social media links, it simply provides information about the product.
