POSTED BY on Sep 4 under Mobile & Web News

The Australian bank Westpac and Oberthur Technologies announced that its TSM platform has been adopted by the bank after the success of the NFC trial.

Westpac is using Oberthur’s platform and will be able to launch secured personalized MasterCard credit/debit cards to the SIM of the participants in the project.

When the card is issued, users can pay for their purchases by tapping their device against payment reader at the POS terminal – no other hardware is required.

The trial will involve Westpac’s employees equipped with Samsung Galaxy S III to make payments at several partnering merchants over the next 3 months.
