When Instagram’s application was launched for Android smartphones, the user numbers jumped to 10 millions in only 10 days and shortly after that was bought by Facebook.
The company watched its website climbing up to the top 10 fastest growing websites in the US, jumping with the impressive 19% in a single month.
The same month, Instagram showed another essential achievement reporting 78% increase of its unique visitors, from 8.2 million in March to 14.5 million in April, making the company the fastest growing webpage, as reported by comScore.
Last month, Instagram was the 9th fastest-growing and 106th overall in unique visitors.
The great news came on the same day that Facebook bought Instagram and launched a new camera application, so it remains to be seen if that will affect Instagram’s massive growth and its future overall.
The second fastest growing webpage is MLB.com, with 66% and 16 million unique users, but this increase is not very surprising, as the baseball season had started the same month.
However, non of these sites were able to dethrone the top 50.
Google is still on top with the astonishing 188.9 million, second is Microsoft websites with 171 million, Yahoo! with 170.8 million, Facebook with 158.5 million and Amazon as number 5 with 111 million unique users.
Tumblr had reached the Top 50 for the first time, hitting number 47 with 23 million in April.
