Yesterday Google announced that it had bought Quickoffice, a mobile application that allows users on iOS and Android platforms to work with Microsoft office.
However details of the deal are not made public yet.
Businesses, schools and customers will use Google Apps to work from anywhere, with any device and with anyone.
Google declares that the acquisition will allow the company to open a new chapter in its development.
For Google the timing of the Quickoffice deal is perfect, as Microsoft Office is to build a version for Android, Windows and iOS tablets. However, it is not expected until the end of 2012 and it will give time to Google to strengthen the market position of Quickoffice.
If customers can get an Office experience, they may drop the productivity set altogether and start seeking web options like Google Docs.
