Facebook to open an App Center

POSTED BY on May 11 under Mobile & Web News

Facebook is making a huge step on app discovery for a user-friendly experience.

The company announced that they are going to open an App Center serving as a hub of Facebook’s social apps rather than a store like Android’s Google Play and Apple’s App Store.

The users will be able to explore the Center and browse descriptions before downloading applications.

The App Center won’t be open to users for a few weeks. Facebook is now calling on developers to submit data and review guidelines so their applications can be featured. There will be an option for developers to include paid apps to the Center.

It’s expected the App Center to include only apps that have high user ratings and those who don’t meet the quality guidelines sre not going to be listed.

A few popular apps are featured already, as expected : Pinterest, Draw Something, Viddy, Spotify, Bubble Witch Saga and Battle Pirates.

When you visit the Center the applications will be shown to you like a News Feed for the apps that you might be interested in.

The App Center will be sending traffic to both Android and iOS platforms.
