The UK tech website pocket-lint.com is reporting that Facebook might be considering to buy the Opera Software company for its Opera mobile browser.
In the recent months Facebook has been buying a number of companies as a way to increase their presence in the smartphone world.
The Opera web browser runs on various smartphones, tablets, the Nintendo Wii and on desktop computers and states to have more than 190 million users.
Google Chrome was thought to be the primary target of Facebook, as it was the most used browser, according to last weeks reports.
Although the deal is unlikely to affect Google’s Chrome increasing usage, it would definitely throw the company into panic and we will see the tech giants fight for your mobile and desktop for social networking and web surfing.
Sources close to Opera are claiming that the company is looking for potential buyers.
However, Facebook stated that the company do not want to comment and respond to market rumors.
