Disney acquired Lucasfilm for $4 billion, the company that is 100% owned by its founder and chairman George Lucas.

In 2006 Disney bought Pixar and in 2009 – Marvel, but this is still breaking, even for a massive conglomerate such as Disney.

However, there is news that the company will reboot the Star Wars franchise and will make a seventh film in 2015.

The press release states that Disney will continue to deliver exceptional content to the audience all over the world and that the company agreed to acquire Lucasfilm in cash and stock transaction.

With Lucas serving as a creative consultant, the seventh episode of Star Wars is targeted for 2015 release and it is expected that Disney will grow the franchise into the future with more movies to be expected.

The purchase includes the Industrial Light and Magic special effects studio, which produces the special effects for a number of Hollywood blockbusters.

It has been working on “The Avengers” and “The Hunger Games“ last year.
