Cellum Hungary is in a partnership with FHB, Telenor, MasterCard and T-Mobile to launch a MasterCard Mobile payment application.
The remote application has the ability to turn smartphones into digital wallets, so the user will be able to make donations and payments via QR Codes.
The system was launched in 2011 and nearly 20,000 users have downloaded it. The application is expected soon in some Central European countries, Cellum are stating.
The previous version of the app was mostly for making e-commerce purchase and paying postal checks.
The new application has more features, including donations via QR Codes, QR Code shopping and paying taxi cabs.
To make a donation, the users simply scan the code of the organization, printed in a poster or a magazine and enter the amount. The Hungarian Baptist and the Hungarian Red Cross are part of the project.
Just like donations, a QR Code is placed in stores or printed in magazines, so the users can scan the code on the advertisement and add the product to a shopping cart, choose time for the delivery and pay for the purchase.
The MasterCard Mobile payment application is available for Android, Windows and iOS platforms.
