Boarding pass barcodes to be used at airports

POSTED BY on Oct 26 under QR Codes

Traveling by air is a lot more restricted since 9/11.

People nowadays must turn their laptops on, take off belts, shoes, jackets are turned over at the security checks and even people’s fingers are carefully examined for traces of explosives and another pet peeve is people can not bring liquids on the plane, but it is all for the safety.

And there it is – a disturbing vulnerability in the United States domestic airline board pass, where a barcode on it can allow travelers to bring aboard otherwise forbidden items.

The barcodes are revealing which checks the passenger will face, and your smartphone can do the reading.

The US PreCheck system randomly picks on which frequent travelers will be able to skip a part of the boarding process.
