Augmented reality app to bring four classic novels to life

Augmented reality has crossed a new boundary – print media.
Penguin Books announced a partnership with Zappar App, to bring four novels to life.
To access the content, the user has to download the free Zappar mobile application, available for iOS and Android, and select a Penguin novel from the menu. By pointing the camera at the book cover of popular titles such as Great Expectations and Moby Dick the user unlocks a highly visual and interactive experience.
The Moby Dick book cover will show you a whale swimming across your smartphone screen and you’ll be encouraged to like Penguin Books on Facebook.
Publishers are experimenting with AR but this technology has not been incorporated into classic books until now.
Penguin Books are excited for the opportunity to turn static print into an interactive experience, and describes the partnership as an inventive and a fresh idea.
Zappar on the other hand thinks that AR is in the development stage and that there are limitless possibilities to surprise and excite people with additional content.
