For the past 5 years, Samsung has been holding the first position as the No1 mobile vendor in the United States, which is probably because of the wide range of devices that include feature phones and high end smartphones like the Galaxy Note and Galaxy SIII.
It looks like Samsung’s leadership has come to an end, as it seems that Apple has jumped into first place.
The report from Strategy Analytics is showing that Apple has managed to sell over 17.5 million iPhones in the fourth quarter of 2012, Samsung – 16.7 million and third is LG with 4.6 million units.
However, those numbers are not only smartphone figures, but mobile devices of all kinds, which is interesting because Apple has only the iPhone, while LG and Samsung have a bunch of other offerings.
It is not very clear how Apple will hold the first place with Samsung about to launch the Galaxy SIV later in 2013.
