55% of smartphone users use their device to compare prices, 34% have scanned a QR Code

Increasingly large number of US customers are using their smartphones in stores.
Some retailers are encouraging consumers by giving them rewards or gift cards for scanning a product or checking in.

Others are doing the opposite, in order to prevent customers to compare prices with other retailers they strip the standard barcodes on products.

A recent report among 6,000 US internet users is showing that more than half or 52% of the smartphone owners are using their mobile device in stores, as 55% of whom are using it to compare prices, 34% have scanned a QR Code and 27% have read an online review for a product before making a purchase.
