The Susan G. Komen for the Cure 3- Day walk is making use of a cloud based platform provided by Qnectus, which integrates RFID technology with social network websites to connect walkers and supporters of the event while raising awareness.
The event is a 60 mile walk to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer.
Attendees commit to training, fundraising and dedicating three days to the event.
This year’s event is integrating the latest RFID technology to Twitter and Facebook to allow participants to post, share and update as they reach a particular milestone along the course.
The platform continues to connect supporters and participants after debuting in Cleveland and Boston earlier this month.
Chicago has recently hosted the 3rd of the 14 3-Day walks.
