POSTED BY on May 11 under Mobile & Web News

The New Zealand mobile operator 2degrees and the contactless card provider Snapper are now in partnership to bring NFC payments to the city of Wellington.

The Touch2Pay service is available on LG Optimus Net phones and can be used to make payments wherever Snapper cards are accepted, such as taxis, buses, cafes and shops.

Customers with Snapper accounts can also use their smartphones to add money directly to their account which can hold up to NZ $300, approximately US $236.

The LG Optimus by 2degrees is the first Touch2Pay smartphone and the operator says that it will offer more T2P handsets at different price range by the end of the year.
